Bitcoin Faces Four October Pressures as Mt. Gox Deadline Looms
Bitcoin is facing four significant pressures as it enters October, a historically strong month for the cryptocurrency. Despite its reputation for performing well during this time, Bitcoin is currently up only 1.98% this month, according to Coinglass data.
One of the main concerns is the thin liquidity in the market, which Darkfost, a cryptocurrency analyst, believes will be a major obstacle to pushing Bitcoin to new highs. The stablecoin market cap has lost $14 billion since May, indicating significant outflows.
However, there are signs that large holders are cautiously adding capital to the market. Wallets sending over $1 million in stablecoins to Binance have seen a 40% increase in their 30-day inflows, reaching $30.5 billion.
The recent conflict in the Strait of Hormuz and the potential for further escalation could also impact Bitcoin's price. On October 2, the cryptocurrency rallied towards $87,000, but erased its gains after the tanker strike.
The Mt. Gox deadline on October 31 is another pressing concern, as the trustee must finish creditor repayments by this time. If the deadline is met, it could lead to distributions of BTC to creditors, who may sell the coins on the market.
