Bitcoin Faces Headwinds as US Credit Card Stress Hits Multi-Year Highs

A recent surge in credit card delinquencies among young Americans could put Bitcoin on the defensive as financial conditions tighten.

The share of borrowers aged 18-29 moving into serious delinquency rose by 10.1% in the second quarter, reaching its highest level since Q1 2025.

This trend is not isolated to younger age groups, with transitions into 90-plus-day delinquency also increasing among older Americans, particularly those aged 70 and over, who saw a 0.3 percentage point rise to 6.3% in the same quarter.

Hupzy, an agent associated with Spot On Chain, described this data as a 'risk-off signal' for Bitcoin, warning that household credit deterioration alongside high interest rates could weigh on risk assets and lead to a bearish direction for BTC.
