Bitcoin Faces Macro Pressure Ahead of Fed Decision

Bitcoin's price action this week is a reflection of growing tension between resilient institutional demand and mounting macroeconomic headwinds. The cryptocurrency has been pressured by a stronger-than-expected U.S. August nonfarm payrolls report, which reignited market expectations for a Federal Reserve interest rate hike at the upcoming FOMC meeting scheduled for September 15-16.

According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of new jobs created in August was nearly triple the consensus forecast of 56,000, coming in at 162,000. This unexpected strength in the labor market has increased expectations for a rate increase, which is currently priced in at about 58% by traders.

The prospect of tighter monetary policy tends to dampen appetite for risk assets, including Bitcoin, which is often viewed as a speculative investment sensitive to interest rate moves. The impact was amplified by the U.S. Labor Day holiday on September 7, which led to thinner order books and increased volatility.
