Bitcoin Faces Test as Higher Treasury Yields Weigh Heavily
Bitcoin's August rally is facing a significant test as higher Treasury yields weigh heavily on its price. The cryptocurrency fell to $77,500 today, unwinding nearly 25% of its gains from last month.
The decline comes as renewed US-Iran tensions and rising oil prices have sparked concerns about energy-driven inflation spreading globally.
Government bond yields surged across major economies in response, making a Federal Reserve rate hike this month more likely. This has put pressure on Bitcoin's price, which is typically sensitive to interest rates.
The market's most consistent structural bid, provided by Strategy, the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, was unable to offset macro pressure, highlighting how much of Bitcoin's near-term price action is currently dictated by rates and oil rather than treasury-driven demand.
