Bitcoin Hashrate Bounces Back Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
The Bitcoin price took a hit this week due to regulatory uncertainty and increased interest rates. On September 14, Santiment Insights warned about extreme FOMO (fear of missing out) in the crypto community as bullish narratives surrounding the CLARITY Act outcome gained traction.
However, the mood quickly shifted after the Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act on September 15, leading to a decline in Bitcoin prices. The Fed's rate hike announcement on September 16 added more pressure to the market, causing crypto sentiment to cool down to near neutral levels.
CryptoQuant's analysis suggests that despite the recent downturn, there may be a potentially positive development for Bitcoin: its hashrate has ended its downward trend and is gradually increasing again. Historically, higher miner activity has been associated with bullish trends in Bitcoin price.
While rising hashrate can lead to increased mining costs, which are linked to higher Bitcoin value, the current market is balancing a cooled sentiment backdrop against a recovering hashrate trend. Whether this shift in miner activity will matter after this week's FOMO flush remains to be seen.
