Bitcoin Hits 8-Month High as Altcoins Outpace Its Gains
Bitcoin (BTC) has reached an eight-month high after surging past $86,000, but it's not the only cryptocurrency making headlines. Other altcoins such as Dogecoin (DOGE), Sui (SUI), XRP, Cardano (ADA), and Solana (SOL) have outpaced Bitcoin's gain over the past 24 hours, with DOGE rising by a significant 12.2%.
A tight cluster of shorts on Bitcoin between $82,000 and $86,000 has helped fuel the rally as traders were forced to cover their positions, according to Glassnode. CryptoQuant also pointed out that the rise in Bitcoin's price from around $81,000 to $86,600 was driven by spot ETF demand, short liquidations, and low historical supply overheads.
On-chain analyst Willy Woo believes that Bitcoin's rally still has room to run for up to four weeks before turning overbought. He pointed out a recent cool-off in his oscillator indicator while price remained strong, indicating buying demand exceeding short-term profit-taking.
