Bitcoin Hits Eight-Month High as Regulatory Uncertainty Fades
Bitcoin surged past $85,000 to hit an eight-month high. This price jump occurred in the wake of legislative failure on crypto regulatory legislation, which had initially caused a decline in digital assets.
The Digital Asset Market Structure Clarity Act failed to pass a procedural vote in the Senate with 49 votes in favor and 50 against, not meeting the required 60-vote threshold. As expected, Bitcoin and some crypto-related stocks initially declined but quickly rebounded after the vote.
Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Hougan declared that the 'crypto winter' is over and the market has entered a 'crypto spring.' He believes this cycle could be the strongest and longest bull market in history due to continually improving fundamentals and AI funds returning to the crypto market.
The rebound occurred despite regulatory uncertainty. Hougan pointed out that while crypto asset prices fell recently, industry fundamentals did not deteriorate in tandem: on-chain transaction activity increased, and major financial institutions like BlackRock further participated in the digital asset market.
