Bitcoin Holds Above $80,000 as Institutional Demand Revives
Bitcoin has managed to hold above $80,000 over the weekend after rebounding from a turbulent week. The world's largest cryptocurrency was trading around $80,479.4 as of Sunday morning, up about 0.2% on the day.
The price recovery was supported by renewed institutional demand in U.S. Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). On Friday, these ETFs recorded more than $433 million in net inflows, with Fidelity's FBTC attracting $310.72 million and BlackRock's IBIT receiving $108.44 million.
Macro conditions remain an important influence on crypto markets, with higher government bond yields, inflation concerns, and geopolitical tensions contributing to volatility across risk assets. Investor Robert Kiyosaki has reiterated his preference for Bitcoin alongside gold and silver due to rising debt, the Iran war, and pressure in global bond markets.
Regulatory developments could also shape sentiment, but Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor argues that the industry can continue expanding through existing regulatory channels rather than waiting for comprehensive legislation. He points to bank custody, Bitcoin-backed lending, stablecoins, and digital credit as areas that could support wider adoption.
