Bitcoin Holds Firm Near $80K Amid Cooling Spot Activity
Bitcoin's price has stabilized near $80,000 despite a decline in spot market activity. According to Glassnode, the top cryptocurrency briefly broke above $80,000 before consolidating at its current level. The indicator that measures price momentum declined by 5% over the past seven days, falling from $85.5 to $81.2.
The downward pressure is attributed to a 124% drop in spot cumulative volume delta, which fell from $279.7 million to -$67.2 million. This shift into negative territory suggests that selling pressure has begun to outweigh buying activity among market takers.
Futures open interest increased by 2.4%, rising from $35.9 billion to $36.7 billion, indicating elevated participation and speculative engagement. However, funding rates fell as long-side funding declined by 21.9% from $2.1 million to $1.6 million.
The stable positioning in the futures market suggests a balanced holder base without excessive speculative churn among newer market participants. Inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs remained above the metric's high statistical band, reflecting continued demand for regulated Bitcoin investment vehicles.
