Bitcoin Holds Ground as Lighter Falls 17% on Robinhood's Perpetuals Push
Bitcoin continues to hold its ground near $83,370 as it consolidates within the $83,000-$85,000 range. The crypto market's volatility remains subdued, with Treasury yields staying elevated and pressure building around speculative trading tokens.
The price drop of Lighter (LIT) by about 17% over 24 hours is a notable exception to this trend, following Robinhood's announcement that it will offer U.S. crypto perpetual futures. This move has put a large distribution channel into the market where LIT has built its identity around perpetual trading.
Despite the decline, LIT funding remained strongly positive, indicating that long positioning had not disappeared. The broader altcoin market was mixed, with Quant (QNT) rising toward $284.06 after another double-digit advance, and LayerZero (ZRO) and Pump.fun (PUMP) also showing strength.
Hedera (HBAR) moved in the opposite direction, falling as futures open interest climbed and funding turned negative. Aave (AAVE) also eased back toward $159.49 after leading Tuesday's DeFi rebound. The combination of falling prices and rising HBAR open interest points to fresh bearish positioning rather than simple profit-taking.
