Bitcoin Holds Near $86,000 as Stock Markets Hit Record Highs
Bitcoin (BTC) held steady near the $86,000 mark on Tuesday, reflecting broader strength in US equity markets as major indices achieved new record highs. The S&P 500 climbed 0.8% to close at 7,835 points, while the Nasdaq 100 and Nasdaq Composite reached 31,312 and 27,683 points, respectively. Analysts at The Kobeissi Letter noted that since March 30, the S&P 500 had surged by 24%, adding $71.3 trillion in market value. Mosaic Asset Company suggested that shifting expectations around Federal Reserve interest rate hikes could sustain this rally, particularly if rate increases slow in late 2026.
Despite the bullish momentum in traditional markets, Bitcoin faced resistance near $87,000 due to heavy sell orders in that range, according to CoinGlass. The cryptocurrency found support at the 21-day simple moving average (SMA) of $83,500, a level last seen on September 18. Keith Alan, cofounder of Material Indicators, highlighted key price levels, including $83,555 and $82,500, as critical for traders to monitor. Additionally, onchain analytics from CryptoQuant revealed a moderate positive correlation (0.51) between Bitcoin and the S&P 500, the highest since early June.
