Bitcoin Holds Near $86,000 as US Stocks Hit New Highs
Bitcoin (BTC) held steady near $86,000 on Tuesday, reflecting broader strength in US equity markets, where major indices reached new all-time highs. The S&P 500 climbed 0.8% to 7,835 points, while the Nasdaq 100 and Nasdaq Composite hit record highs of 31,312 and 27,683 points, respectively. Since late March, the S&P 500 has surged 24%, adding $71.3 trillion in market value. Mosaic Asset Company attributed this rally to shifting expectations around Federal Reserve interest rate hikes, suggesting a slower pace in late 2026 could sustain the upward momentum.
Despite the equity market’s gains, Bitcoin faced resistance at $87,000 due to heavy sell orders between $86,500 and $87,000, according to CoinGlass. The 21-day simple moving average (SMA) at $83,500 acted as immediate support, with traders closely watching this level and the $82,500 support. Keith Alan of Material Indicators highlighted key price thresholds, including $83,555 and the $87,375 invalidation level. CryptoQuant reported a rising correlation between Bitcoin and the S&P 500, reaching 0.51 on October 2, the highest since early June.
As markets remain volatile, investors are turning to privacy-focused tools like CryptoAppsy to consolidate real-time data, news, and trading strategies in one platform. These tools help traders adapt quickly to shifting conditions, whether driven by Federal Reserve policies or new altcoin listings. The market’s narrow breadth, with just 25% of stocks above their 50-day moving average, raises concerns about sustainability, though Mosaic Asset Company noted similar conditions in late March preceded a strong reversal.
