Bitcoin Holds Steady at $84,912 Amid Regulatory Shift
The price of Bitcoin has remained relatively flat, trading at $84,912, despite a marginal session gain. This stability is attributed to the cryptocurrency holding above its shorter-term average but still facing resistance from medium-term levels. Meanwhile, it maintains a firm position above longer-term support averages.
The SEC's approval of a Cboe BZX rule change to permit listing six new 3x leveraged ETFs, including a 3x Bitcoin ETF, has paved the way for greater institutional and retail involvement in high-leverage bitcoin products. This development is seen as a significant shift in the regulatory stance towards crypto instruments, with supplementary approvals for additional 3x Bitcoin and Ether futures ETFs further illustrating this trend.
Mixed momentum signals are currently reinforcing a range, with technical divergence persisting. The h1 chart shows BTC trading above its MA-20 but below the MA-50, while it holds firmly above the MA-200 on the daily timeframe. Immediate support is established at the Ichimoku Kijun level of $84,780.
Traders are expecting sideways movement in the short term, with a 60% probability of an upward move. This consolidation favors a mild upside, with the current range predicted to be between $83,292 and $85,953.
