Bitcoin Hovers Near Breakout Zone Ahead of Potential $100K Surge
Bitcoin is currently trading near a critical breakout zone, with traders watching closely to see if the price can surge toward $100,000. At press time, Bitcoin was valued at $85,577, with a market capitalization of $1.72 trillion and a 24-hour trading volume of $27.787 billion. The cryptocurrency has been consolidating between $84,000 and $87,000, a range that could set the stage for its next major move.
The long-term fundamentals of Bitcoin remain strong, with a capped supply of 21 million coins and only about 20.09 million currently in circulation. The 2024 halving further reduced the supply, which could support higher prices if demand stays steady or rises. Institutional participation, through spot Bitcoin ETFs and corporate holdings, has also bolstered investor confidence.
Technical indicators suggest underlying bullish strength, with a golden crossover on the daily chart and the price trading above key moving averages. However, derivatives data shows a balanced market, with open interest stabilizing near 257K BTC and funding rates mildly positive at 0.0048%. This suggests that leverage is not overheated, reducing the risk of a sharp liquidation cascade.
If Bitcoin can close a daily candlestick above $87,000 with rising volume and open interest, it could target $90,000 and potentially $100,000 in the coming months. Conversely, a failure to break out could lead to profit-taking, with immediate support levels at $85,000 and $84,000. A break below $83,500 might trigger a deeper pullback toward the $78,000 zone.
