The Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) 110 is approaching its first consequential activation boundary. The proposal, which aims to restrict certain transaction features and ensure network security, will enter mandatory signaling at block 961,632 on August 9, 2026. This marks a significant milestone in the implementation of BIP-110, which will lock in no later than block 963,648 in late August.

The proposal uses a 55% signaling threshold and enforces its restrictions for approximately one year or 52,416 blocks. During this period, nodes that support BIP-110 will reject blocks that fail to signal bit 4 and transactions that violate the new rules.

For corporations using Bitcoin as a store of value or long-duration treasury reserve asset, BIP-110 requires little to no action. However, those running their own full node may need to switch to supporting BIP-110 to maintain compatibility with other nodes on the network.
