Bitcoin Japan Completes First Bitcoin Purchase Worth Approximately $99 Million
Bitcoin Japan, a Tokyo-based cryptocurrency exchange and subsidiary of Meta Planet, has completed its first purchase of Bitcoin (BTC) through its wholly-owned subsidiary BTC JPN. The company announced on September 29 that it had acquired 11.9188 BTC for approximately $99,949,794.94 (¥15,724 million).
The acquisition price per BTC is $83,857.43 (approximately ¥13,199 million). According to the statement, the exchange plans to continue purchasing BTC in the future, with additional purchases made within a budget of 6.62 billion yen. The company will reassess its impact on the financial statements for the fiscal year ending March 2027.
The acquired BTC will be valued at market price every quarter and any resulting gains or losses will be reflected in the company's earnings statement. This move is part of Bitcoin Japan's plan to maximize shareholder value and improve capital efficiency through its new Bitcointreasury business, which aims to hold and utilize BTC as a financial asset.
