Bitcoin Lands Fourth-Ever Bullish Cross: What It Means for the Market
Bitcoin's longer-term price structure has shown signs of stabilization, according to analyst Willy Woo. In an update on X, Woo highlighted that Bitcoin's Fisher Transform indicator produced a monthly bullish crossover in August, marking only the fourth such event in its history.
The Fisher Transform is a trend-strength indicator developed in 2002, which works by smoothing price action into a form easier to interpret as trend conditions change. The indicator plots two lines: the Fisher line and a trigger line derived from it, delayed by one period. Crossovers between these two lines are typically interpreted as a signal of regime change.
Woo notes that prior monthly crossovers have coincided with bear-market bottoms, which historically precede larger macro uptrends. The August crossover occurred during July at around -2.26 on the Fisher Transform scale, representing a potential fourth recorded bullish monthly crossover if it plays out as history suggests.
The current setup is distinct from bull phases, where speculative activity and choppier conditions increase the odds of 'fake out' signals. Woo argues that bear-market bottom zones tend to have reduced speculative participation, making trend signals easier to interpret.
