Bitcoin Miners Sell Over 32K BTC Amid Industry Strain

The Bitcoin mining industry is facing strain as top miners sell off significant amounts of BTC. MARA and Riot, two leading Bitcoin miners, have collectively sold over 32,000 BTC in the first half of 2026.

A closer look at their Q2 2026 earnings reveals that MARA has liquidated 23,093 BTC and Riot has sold 9,665 BTC. This trend is concerning as it suggests that miners are reducing their exposure to Bitcoin.

The difficulty in mining Bitcoin has also decreased by 15.1%, which may be a contributing factor to the decline in sales. However, this reduction in difficulty could also lead to increased profitability for miners in the long run.
