Bitcoin Mining Heats Swiss Luxury Mansion and Pool
Swiss investor and Crypto Finance founder Tobias Reichmuth has completed a unique five-story mansion in St. Moritz, where Bitcoin mining equipment doubles as a heating system. Villa Volt, designed by Ruch & Partner and completed in early 2025, features a 5 kW Bitcoin mining system installed by Swiss startup RY3T. The system uses the heat generated by mining to warm the 33-foot indoor swimming pool and the home’s floors, effectively replacing a conventional boiler.
The property, built on a plot purchased in 2021 and completed in 2025, spans 550 square meters across five levels. It combines Nordic and Alpine design elements, with natural materials, expansive windows, and a private elevator. The mining system is hydro-cooled, with heat exchanged into the home’s hot-water system, allowing the machine to mine Bitcoin while contributing to heating the property. During its first month, the system generated roughly CHF 300 worth of Bitcoin.
Villa Volt’s wellness facilities include a stainless-steel indoor pool, a sauna, hammam, cold plunge, gym, meditation room, and a cryotherapy chamber. The property also features solar panels and geothermal energy, reflecting Reichmuth’s interests in renewable energy, cryptocurrency, and longevity. With a fortune estimated at CHF 125 million in 2025, Reichmuth has backed longevity businesses and co-founded Crypto Finance Group, which was acquired by Deutsche Börse.
