Bitcoin nears bullish signal unseen since 2025
Bitcoin is on the verge of completing a bullish technical signal that hasn't occurred since June 2025. This signal involves the alignment of the 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages, which are key indicators of price trends. Currently, these averages are very close: $79,495 for the 50-day, $79,493 for the 100-day, and $79,539 for the 200-day. The signal will be confirmed when the 100-day average surpasses the 200-day average.
The cryptocurrency is trading around $86,200, or approximately €76,800. This price level follows a significant 40% rise in the third quarter, though it has since stalled near $85,000. One contributing factor is the strong US dollar, as measured by the DXY index, which recently surpassed 101.80 points.
Historical data shows mixed results from this signal. In October 2020, it preceded a long bull run from $13,600 to May 2021. At the end of 2023, a similar pattern also led to an upward phase. However, in June 2024, the signal lasted only 20 days before a nearly 10% drop. In June 2025, it lasted 97 days with a moderate increase from $106,000 to $112,000.
Vikram Subburaj, CEO of the Indian platform Giottus, emphasizes that the real test is whether the price stays above the 50-day average during corrections. Moving averages describe past performance and do not predict future price movements. This technical signal should be viewed as just one data point among many, not as a buy recommendation.
