Bitcoin Nears 'Crunch Time', Ethereum Wallet Activity Surges
Crypto market observers are monitoring Bitcoin's movements closely as it approaches what analyst Tom Cowen calls 'crunch time'. According to Cowen, Bitcoin is following a pattern seen in every prior midterm year, where a low forms in summer, followed by increased volatility and a surge in the late fall that marks the beginning of a new bull run.
Cowen points out that social interest in Bitcoin is at 0.2 today, similar to levels seen in August 2018. This may seem bleak, but Cowen notes that this was also the case four years ago during a bottoming phase, which turned out to be the start of a new bull run.
He predicts one more leg down for Bitcoin before the market begins its next upswing, with October as the most likely month for the cycle low. On-chain indicators have not yet reset to levels historically associated with major bottoms.
In related news, Ethereum saw a surge in wallet activity, with 989,500 active addresses in 24 hours, its highest daily activity since March. This increase is attributed to existing wallets waking up and rotating capital rather than new users entering the market.
