Bitcoin Nears First Bullish Signal in Over a Year
Bitcoin (BTC) is showing signs of a major bullish signal that hasn't been seen in over a year. The cryptocurrency's 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day simple moving averages are on the verge of aligning in a bullish order. This alignment, where the 50-day average sits above the 100-day, and the 100-day above the 200-day, would mark the first such occurrence since June 24, 2025.
As of the latest data, the 50-day average is at $79,495, already above the 100-day average at $79,493. The 100-day average is rising and close to surpassing the 200-day average at $79,539. This alignment would indicate bullish momentum across short-, medium-, and long-term trends.
Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Giottus exchange, noted that this crossover would restore the order of moving averages not seen since 2025. Traders use these averages to gauge trend direction, with short-term averages above long-term ones signaling upward momentum. Bitcoin's price has surged over 40% to $87,000 in the third quarter, although it has stalled around $85,000 recently.
Historical data shows that past alignments have sometimes preceded major rallies. For instance, an alignment in October 2020 held until May 2021, during which Bitcoin hit a record high above $64,000. However, not all alignments have been equally rewarding, with some leading to modest gains or even price declines. Subburaj cautioned that while the crossover strengthens the trend case, it does not guarantee its continuation. The real test will be whether Bitcoin can maintain its spot price above the 50-day average during potential corrections.
