Bitcoin Needs to Reach $82,900 to Outrun Mining Margin Squeeze
The Bitcoin network is preparing for its next difficulty adjustment, which will reclaim part of the revenue gained in August. The price needs to reach $82,877 or roughly $82,900 to offset a 4.6976% increase in dollar hashprice.
This estimate is based on a mempool.space difficulty reading preserved at 20:24:22 UTC on Sept. 14, which projects a 4.6976% increase at the next adjustment. The current difficulty of 127.4508 trillion would imply a new level near 133.44 trillion if the estimate holds.
A higher $BTC price or stronger fees could soften the hit from the projected difficulty increase. However, a lower price or faster block production could deepen it.
