Bitcoin OG Warns of Next Major Exploit as AI Models Get Stronger

CobraBitcoin, a well-known figure in the Bitcoin community, has sounded an alarm about a potential security threat to the cryptocurrency industry. He is concerned that increasingly capable artificial intelligence (AI) models are becoming stronger at coding, vulnerability discovery, and autonomous cyber operations.

The arrival of OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra and Anthropic's Claude Fable 5.1 has raised concerns about the potential for AI-assisted attacks on Bitcoin's critical infrastructure. These models can analyze open-source code at machine speed, which could lead to the discovery of previously unknown security flaws.

CobraBitcoin points out that much of Bitcoin's critical infrastructure is open-source, making it vulnerable to analysis by AI systems. This could potentially allow attackers to exploit vulnerabilities that human reviewers have missed.

The release of GPT-6 Astra and Claude Fable 5.1 has demonstrated the capabilities of these models in discovering security flaws. OpenAI says Astra reached a perfect 100% score on ExploitBench, a benchmark measuring whether models can turn known vulnerabilities into working exploits.
