Bond Yields Surge, Bitcoin Investors Bet Big on 'Higher for Longer' Rates
The Bitcoin market has been experiencing a surge in investor demand following the recent rise of bond yields. The aggregate open interest in BTC dropped by 3.58% as profit-taking occurred at range highs, but this did not deter investors from buying into the 'big print' and 'higher for longer' interest rates narrative.
Total spot Bitcoin ETF net inflows on September 3 reached $731 million, with IBIT accounting for $453 million of the total. This influx of capital has led to a rise in investor expectations ahead of the Fed's September interest rate decision.
The market is pricing in a higher likelihood of an interest rate hike, with odds rising from 35% to 58% after the Jackson Hole speech by Chair Kevin Warsh and the subsequent jobs report beat. The shift suggests that a hold could surprise and extend the bullish momentum seen over the past few weeks.
The CLARITY Act, which aims to provide clarity on crypto regulation, is expected to be voted on in the Senate on September 15. However, leaders from the SEC, CFTC, and Trump Administration have stated that regulators will devise pro-crypto rules regardless of the bill's outcome.
