Bitcoin Ownership Tops Half Billion, but Analysts Disagree on Price Potential
The number of Bitcoin holders has exceeded half a billion people, marking a new reality for the cryptocurrency market. According to on-chain analyst Willy Woo's updated report, supported by Glassnode and Chainalysis metrics, the total audience ranges between 370 million and 500 million people. This represents 4.5% to 6% of the world's total population.
The current pace of coin distribution follows an S-shaped innovation adoption curve typical of the early stages of the internet's development. However, analysts disagree on whether this growth will translate into a multiple increase in Bitcoin's value in the coming years.
The statistics demonstrate an uneven distribution of global digital capital between developed and developing economies. India leads with 68 million users (4.6% of the country's population), followed by the United States with 50 million people, who maintain the highest penetration rate among the world's largest economies at 14%.
Vietnam has recorded the highest levels of cryptocurrency penetration relative to its population, at 17%. Argentina and Turkey have also seen high adoption rates, with 15% each. In these regions, digital assets are used as a tool for hedging against local inflation risks and bypassing currency controls.
