Bitcoin Pauses Near $84k Amid Rate Jitters and Bitget Hack
Bitcoin's price remained relatively stable near $83,999.6 on Friday as investors kept an eye on surging Treasury yields and a major hack targeting cryptocurrency exchange Bitget.
The largest digital asset fell 0.1% in value but was still up 3.4% for the week, while broader crypto prices moved sideways with some gains.
Bitget suffered a security breach that affected around $351.6 million in digital assets, including ether, XRP, USDT, and USDC, although the company's user protection fund of over $464 million will cover the losses.
The hack is believed to be linked to a North Korean hacking group, but investigators have yet to confirm the perpetrators' identities.
