Bitcoin Plummets to Lowest Level Since August as Rate Hike Fears Intensify
Bitcoin's recent rally has come to an abrupt end, with prices plummeting to their lowest level since August 21. After reaching a session high of $79,579, BTC broke below the $77,000 support and dropped to $74,984.
The sudden reversal is attributed to growing concerns about rising rates ahead of the Federal Reserve's key decision. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index has also seen a significant drop from 81 to 67, indicating a shift from extreme greed to more cautious sentiment.
Vik Sharma, CEO of Cake Wallet, believes that higher rates can impact corporate profits and stocks but does not necessarily affect bitcoin's long-term thesis. He notes that traders may react similarly to the news, but a rate hike will change stock outlooks, not the fundamental value of bitcoin.
