Bitcoin Price Consolidates Amid US-Iran Talks, Fed Rate Expectations Shift
Bitcoin's price has been stuck in a consolidation phase since last Wednesday due to ongoing US-Iran tensions, but a recent improvement in negotiations has eased concerns over an escalation. According to reports, the main disagreement between the two parties is now centered around the sequencing and implementation of measures rather than the substance of Tehran's proposal.
Fed's Williams also provided some support for Bitcoin yesterday by stating that there was no urgency to raise rates following the September hike. He added that another increase would likely be appropriate if the economy continued to perform as expected, causing a dovish repricing in rate expectations. The probability of an October hike fell from around 70% to roughly 45%.
A breakthrough in negotiations could provide further support for Bitcoin as expectations for aggressive Fed tightening will likely get pared back. Conversely, a prolonged stalemate or renewed escalation would keep risk sentiment under pressure and limit Bitcoin's upside.
