Bitcoin Price Eyes $83K as Momentum Stretches to Overbought Territory
Bitcoin's price surged near $79,500 on August 27 after gaining approximately 25% from its mid-August consolidation range. The daily relative strength index reached a reading of 81.14, indicating strong buying momentum but also raising concerns about profit-taking due to the overbought territory.
The breakout above $63,000 coincided with renewed demand through U.S. investment products and improving expectations for crypto legislation. BlackRock's IBIT accounted for about $1.33 billion of the approximately $1.92 billion in inflows recorded by the ETF group in the week through August 21.
However, technical indicators on the 4-hour chart suggest weakening momentum. The moving average convergence divergence indicator presented a bearish picture, with the MACD line below the signal line and a negative histogram.
