Bitcoin Price Holds Steady as Crypto Exchanges Suffer Over $400M in Hacks
The Bitcoin price held steady near $83,000 after President Donald Trump's Oval Office appearance on September 28. The event was centered around a $15 billion steel plant in Iowa and did not mention cryptocurrencies or the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
Meanwhile, crypto exchanges and DeFi protocols reported over $400 million in hacks and exploits between September 22 and 25, with Bitget suffering the largest loss of $387.5 million. The hack was attributed to North Korean hackers, although this has not been confirmed by any court.
The Strategic Bitcoin Reserve remains intact under an executive order signed on March 6, 2025, which states that forfeited Bitcoin will be used to fund it and that the U.S. will not sell any deposited Bitcoin.
