Bitcoin Price Recovers Momentum Amid Weaker Dollar and Easier Financial Conditions
Bitcoin's recent rally has regained momentum after erasing earlier losses on Sunday. The cryptocurrency had retreated from its previous high of $79,461 on Friday, but now trades at $77,307.0, up 0.3% as of 11:12 ET (15:12 GMT).
The price recovery is providing relief to miners, with Bitcoin's hashprice increasing by 20.4% over four days to $38.29 per petahash per second on Saturday from $31.80 on August 18. This is a measure of expected revenue from a unit of computing power.
Grayscale Head of Research Zach Pandl believes that three factors may support long-term buyers: continued adoption, the maturity of the current bear market, and a broadly supportive macroeconomic outlook. He noted that the bear market has been about 10 months old, approaching the 11-to-12-month average and median duration of Bitcoin's four previous cyclical downturns.
However, interest rates remain a key risk for non-yielding assets such as Bitcoin. The Federal Reserve held its policy rate at 3.5% to 3.75% in July, but three officials preferred an increase. A future rate hike could pressure Bitcoin's price.
