Bitcoin Price Slumps Following Failed CLARITY Act Vote
The Bitcoin price has dropped by around 3% since the failed vote on the CLARITY Act in the Senate, hovering above $75,600 at the time of writing.
The legislation aimed to create a broader federal framework for digital assets and divide regulatory responsibilities between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
The CFTC has treated Bitcoin as a commodity since 2015, while the SEC listed it as a digital commodity in its March 2026 interpretation. However, the CLARITY Act would place wider rules for crypto platforms and businesses into federal law.
TradingKey analyst Alan Long said that if Bitcoin falls below $76,000, it could open the way towards $71,000, followed by $70,000 if selling continues.
