Bitcoin Price Stabilizes Amid SEC Regulation Proposals and Iran Tensions
Bitcoin's price remained steady around $64,000 as the cryptocurrency market absorbed newly unveiled regulatory proposals from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions involving Iran.
The SEC's 'Regulation Crypto Assets' proposal aims to provide clearer rules for certain crypto investment contracts by establishing defined paths for compliance with federal securities laws.
Eligible issuers will be allowed to raise up to $5 million over four years or offer up to $75 million within any given year, while a safe harbor provision will protect issuers that fulfill managerial duties specified in investment contracts.
The proposal is part of the SEC's efforts to shape the regulatory landscape, but the path for comprehensive U.S. crypto regulation remains uncertain due to the failure of the Clarity Act to gain traction in Congress.
