ETH Price Still Far From $5,000 Peak Despite Recent Gains
Ethereum's price has been steadily rising over the past few weeks, but it still has a long way to go to regain its value from last year. As of August 19, ETH opened at $1,917.41, up about $21 from Monday.
This slow crawl higher is welcome news for Ethereum investors after a tumultuous year that saw the token's value plummet by more than half. In January 2026, one ETH cost over $4,077, but early 2026 brought a wave of recession anxiety that hit crypto hard, causing ETH to lose even more value.
The month-over-month picture looks better, with Ethereum gaining 3% since last month when it was at $1,858. However, previous bounces this year were quickly sold off before they had time to develop.
