Bitcoin Price Stalls Ahead of Jackson Hole Speech as Rate Hike Speculation Grows
The Bitcoin price is currently trading at $77,942 after experiencing a 1.03% increase in value today, August 24. The king coin has been consolidating within a tight range between $77,000 and $78,000, with momentum waning ahead of the Jackson Hole Symposium.
On August 28, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh will give his first speech at the symposium in Wyoming, where he will discuss monetary policy decisions. Analysts are speculating whether his speech will hint at possible rate hikes before the end of 2026, given the rising US debt and inflation caused by the US-Iran war.
According to analyst Walter Bloomberg, Warsh is likely to maintain a neutral tone during the symposium. However, some investors still expect him to have a dovish stance, especially after US inflation dropped from 3.5% in June to 3.4% in July. This has led to speculation that the speech could affect the US bond market.
The price of Bitcoin is currently trading within a falling wedge pattern on the one-hour chart, suggesting that the drop from $79,000 to $77,000 could ease and an uptrend could resume. If Warsh makes a dovish speech and hints that the Fed is no longer considering increasing interest rates, the price of Bitcoin could move to the 161.8% Fib of $81,900.
