Bitcoin Price Struggles at $89,024: Whale Orders and Liquidation Clusters at Play
The Bitcoin price has been consolidating after a sharp recovery from the June lows and is currently trading near $83,700. The rebound has brought BTC back toward a crucial resistance zone between $85,000 and $90,000, where significant liquidation liquidity and large sell orders are concentrated.
Liquidation clusters appear above and below the current price, with substantial concentrations around the mid-$85,000 level. This could force leveraged short positions to close, accelerating upward action if a breakout occurs.
A move through these levels could trigger a cascade of short liquidations and increase momentum, but large sell orders also create a wall towards $90,000. The Coinglass whale order chart shows substantial sell-side liquidity layered above the current market price, with more than $20 million in sell orders around the $90,000 level.
The Bitcoin price is trading near a trend line connecting recent lows and faces resistance at the R1 pivot at $89,024. A daily close above this level would put the psychological $90,000 threshold within reach, but until that happens, BTC could remain choppy as traders wait for a decisive breakout or rejection.
