Bitcoin Price Surge: Can BTC Reach $90K as ETF Demand Continues to Fuel the Rally?
The Bitcoin price has surged past $85K, but will it reach $90K? According to CoinGecko data on September 22, the current price of BTC USD is around $85,900, up about +2% over the past 24 hours. However, the move was preceded by a violent run that briefly touched $86,922 earlier in the session.
The thin order books on the way up explain much of what happens next. The recent surge followed one of the strongest ETF sessions in months, with US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds pulling in a combined $999M in net inflows on September 21.
According to Farside data, BlackRock's IBIT led the pack with $381.4M in inflows, followed by ARK 21Shares' ARKB at $289.1 million and Fidelity's FBTC at $238.8 million. None of the tracked funds recorded outflows that day.
Bitcoin's technical structure is a sharp breakout from consolidation that's already showing signs of fatigue, with the 2% pullback from session highs raising questions about whether $85,000 converts into support or gets rejected. CoinMarketCap places near-term support at $84,000, while Nansen's desk flags $87,000 and $90,000 as the next resistance zones.
