Bitcoin Price Surge Fails to Boost Trading Volumes: Analyst
Bitcoin's price surge in August has left many wondering if it's more than just a fleeting phenomenon. According to crypto analyst Darkfost, the recent 30% price increase is not yet being matched by a corresponding rise in trading activity.
Trading volumes on Binance, Gate, and Bybit are about 70% below October 2025 levels, with spot trading volume falling from $198 billion to $44 billion on Binance alone. On Gate, the figure declined from around $53 billion to $14 billion, while on Bybit, it dropped from roughly $41 billion to $17 billion.
Despite this sharp drop in activity, Darkfost notes that trading volumes stayed close to July's levels, which may indicate stabilization after a prolonged period of waning investor interest in the market. However, price growth alone is not enough to confirm a new bull cycle.
Bitcoin's realized capitalization has started to recover, rising by more than $4.6 billion over the week, marking the most notable weekly increase since the start of the current bear trend. Darkfost believes that an increase in this metric may indicate that liquidity is returning to the market, but notes that it does not necessarily mean an inflow of new funds.
