Bitcoin Price Surge Sparks Enterprise Buying Spree Amid Regulatory Clarity

Bitcoin's recent price surge has put it back in the spotlight, with enterprises accelerating their purchases of BTC and ETH. As Bitcoin's value rose by around 23% towards the end of August, mining companies that had previously shifted focus to AI business saw their shares rise by 41% to 67%. This was more than many AI infrastructure companies.

The market believes that the US Treasury's decision to expand bond repurchases, the White House's signals on crypto regulation, and the clearance of over $1.6 billion in short positions all contributed to this price increase.

Strive purchased 1,800 BTC worth around $143 million at the end of August, increasing their total holdings to 23,156 BTC and making them the fifth-largest publicly listed company holder of Bitcoin. Strategy also increased its BTC holdings by 4,603 coins during the same period, exceeding 850,000 BTC in total.

In related news, 21 major financial institutions, including US banks JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs, plan to launch a new company that will introduce a dollar-pegged stablecoin in the first half of 2027. This will be followed by expansion into other G7 currencies for cross-border payments and digital asset settlements.

Bitmine has continuously purchased ETH over the past 65 weeks, holding more than 5.9 million coins. Their current holdings represent approximately 4.9% of Ethereum's circulating supply of around $1.2 billion, just one step away from their target of 5%. However, Bitmine still faces around $510 million in unrealized losses on its ETH holdings.
