Bitcoin Price Surge Wipes Out Nearly $1 Billion in Leveraged Bets
Bitcoin's price surge has left traders who bet against it reeling. In the past 24 hours, nearly $1 billion in leveraged bets have been liquidated as BTC's price punches through $86,000.
Much of these losses come from short positions: Bitcoin shorts alone amount to $454.95 million. Ethereum followed with $172.68 million in shorts and $28.61 million in longs.
More than 131,000 traders have been forced out as a result. The largest single close was an $11.29 million Bitcoin position on Binance.
The price of Bitcoin is currently trading at $86,038, up 5.5% in the last 24 hours.
