Bitcoin Price Surges 40%, But $100K Target Remains Elusive
Bitcoin's price has surged by about 40% since its July low near $57,700, reaching $79,000-$81,000 in early September. This rally is attributed to institutional ETF inflows and favorable macroeconomic conditions.
The cryptocurrency's strong performance in August, the best since 2017, has not yet translated into a high probability of surpassing $100,000 by the end of 2026, according to prediction markets, which give only a 28% chance of this event occurring.
Ethereum has outperformed Bitcoin with a 56% gain over the same period, but both cryptocurrencies face challenges in reaching their price targets due to selling pressure from investors who bought near previous highs.
