Bitcoin Price Surges on ETF Inflows and Short-Covering
Bitcoin's price has rebounded in recent days, driven by a surge in ETF inflows and short-covering. According to reports, there were net inflows of around $6.1 million after midweek outflows, with even larger single-day inflows reported at around $435 million as the price traded near $80,000.
The rebound has been attributed to a combination of factors, including positive regulation and investor comments from notable figures such as Jason Calacanis, Michael Saylor, and Cathie Wood on Bitcoin's role. The Federal Reserve's 25 basis point hike and the failure of the Clarity Act have been noted as potential headwinds.
Traders are now watching for long-term holders to re-enter the market, as well as continued ETF flows and macro cues. With heavy short positions clustering near $83,000-$86,000, a breakout above this range could be significant.
In related news, MicroStrategy's last purchase of Bitcoin was on August 31, with around 4,603 BTC bought at an average cost of $75,412, resulting in an investment of over $369.7 million. The company holds around 845,050 BTC overall.
