Bitcoin Price Surges Past Key Moving Average Threshold
Bitcoin's price surge has some analysts pointing to a possible bull market regime change. The Bitcoin price closed above its 50-week simple moving average for the first time this cycle, according to Sean Hagan, who assigns about an 80% confidence level to this indicator marking a genuine shift in market conditions.
The 50-week moving average has historically marked the boundary between bull and bear regimes in Bitcoin. A weekly close above it could signal the start of a new bull run, while another week of trading above it would confirm this trend.
However, there have been two instances in Bitcoin's history where this signal failed to hold: 2019-2020 and 2022-2023. Despite these exceptions, many analysts believe that the current price action aligns with a typical bull market timing, which is around one year from an all-time high to a cycle bottom.
Bitcoin has recently seen a nearly 10% gain on the week, pushing its price above $86K.
