Bitcoin Price Volatility Tests Buyers and Sellers at $80,000
Bitcoin's price volatility has reached a critical point around the $80,000 level. Despite failing to maintain this level after reaching $82,000 in late August, Bitcoin's price remains at $83,607.21 as of September 29, 2026.
The recent dip below $80,000 is seen as a battleground between buyers and sellers. The market is now in a decision zone, with the short-term holder cost basis near $69,000 creating a significant zone of potential selling pressure.
According to data, short-term holders have unrealized profits of $9.07 billion, which fell to $7.51 billion by Saturday. This indicates that many recent buyers are watching the $69,000 level as their entry point.
The four-year cycle and miner economics also play a crucial role in Bitcoin's price movement. The current cycle is 295 days past the October 2025 peak of $126,198.07, with a 54% decline. Cantor Fitzgerald projects the bear market floor for late October 2026.
Bitcoin miners face difficult economics due to daily revenue falling 46% year-over-year. The mining difficulty is 18.3% below the November 2025 peak.
