Bitcoin Profit-Taking Hits as Price Falters Near $80,000
Bitcoin's recent rally has stalled as profit-taking begins to take hold. The cryptocurrency fell towards the $77,000 level on Monday after last week's 23% gain, its largest weekly increase since mid-March 2023.
The price surge was driven by institutional demand and the US Treasury's announcement to double its debt buyback operations. Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded a significant inflow of $1.92 billion in weekly inflows, their highest since October 2025.
However, on-chain trading data suggests that investors are beginning to take profits as Bitcoin approaches the $80,000 level. This could lead to short-term consolidation or a temporary pullback in the price.
