Bitcoin Rally 'First Leg Up' Toward $150K, Fundstrat's Tom Lee Says
Fundstrat's Tom Lee sees Bitcoin's recent rally as just the beginning of a larger move, claiming that $150,000 is still possible. He attributed this optimism to increased trading in crypto-linked stocks and institutional investors positioning for a strong fourth quarter.
Lee pointed to a potential driver being the end of the crypto market's four-year cycle and the return of South Korean investors who rotated into artificial intelligence stocks earlier in 2026. He also mentioned that relatively few investors currently hold crypto, leaving room for Bitcoin to return to six figures.
The Federal Reserve's interest rate decision on September 15 will be a crucial factor in determining the direction of the market, with Lee stating that an unchanged interest rate could trigger a broader market rally. However, he acknowledged that an increase would test the crypto market and its impact would depend partly on whether longer-term Treasury yields rose or fell in response.
Meanwhile, Senator Kevin Cramer expressed confidence that the CLARITY Act will pass before the November 3 midterm elections if lawmakers agree to take up the measure on September 15. The legislation has attracted bipartisan support but faces a 60-vote threshold in the Senate.
