Bitcoin Resilience Fuels Optimism Amidst Rising Interest Rates
Bitcoin has defied expectations by maintaining its value above $77,000 despite a slew of negative news in September. The cryptocurrency fell only 1.5 percent during the month, which is less than its average decline of 3 percent since 2013. This resilience comes as the global economy faces rising interest rates and regulatory uncertainty.
According to Mitchell Askew, Head of Blockware Intelligence, Bitcoin's limited reaction to bad news suggests that sellers are losing strength. Askew believes that investors who wanted to sell may have already closed their positions earlier, making it harder for prices to drop significantly.
Fabian Dori, Chief Investment Officer at Sygnum Bank, also weighed in on the topic, stating that rising interest rates do not always negatively impact Bitcoin. Dori argued that if bond yields increase concerns about currency devaluation and state-sourced risks, it could boost demand for stores of value like Bitcoin and gold.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission has announced an innovation exemption for tokenized security platforms that meet certain conditions. This new regulation provides a framework for eligible platforms to trade shares on the blockchain, potentially paving the way for greater adoption and growth in the space.
