Bitcoin Rises Above $75,000 Amid US Bond Market Shift
Bitcoin (BTC) price surged past $75,000 on August 21 in the Asian session, reaching a daily high of $75,897.34 and marking the largest single-week gain in nearly two and a half years.
This rapid growth is attributed to changes in the US bond market, where long-term Treasury bonds experienced a massive sell-off, followed by an announcement from the US Department of the Treasury expanding long-term Treasury buybacks to improve liquidity and stabilize the bond market.
The weakening US dollar and improved liquidity environment are favorable for risk asset valuations, contributing to Bitcoin's breaking above $70,000. Additionally, the proposed CLARITY Act, which aims to clarify digital assets as securities or commodities and establish a clearer regulatory framework, is seen as a catalyst for the market.
Capital flows have also shown improvement, with US spot Bitcoin ETFs recording a net inflow of approximately $517 million on August 19, signaling institutional capital re-entering the market.
