Bitcoin Seeks Rare Three-Month Winning Streak Amid Historic Pattern
Bitcoin is on track to experience a rare three-month winning streak, having gained in July, August, and September. This would mark only the second time in its history that Bitcoin has achieved such a feat.
The previous occurrence of this pattern happened in 2012, when Bitcoin gained 41% in July, 6.4% in August, and 24.4% in September. In October of that year, however, the cryptocurrency fell by 9.7%, marking the beginning of a significant rally.
Analysts warn that repeating this exact pattern is unlikely due to the vastly different market conditions today. Bitcoin's market capitalization has grown significantly since 2012, and institutional participation has increased exponentially. The availability of spot ETFs and derivatives trading also sets it apart from its predecessor.
Nicolai Sondergaard, a senior research analyst at Nansen, notes that history may not repeat itself but can 'rhyme.' He suggests that a weaker October would not be surprising, given the market's performance so far this year. However, sustained institutional demand could be more important for Bitcoin's next move than simply whether October turns positive or negative.
Despite these warnings, the current setup is attracting attention due to its rarity and potential bullish implications. Some cycle models point to a potentially bullish phase beginning around October or November, although these historical cycles are not fixed calendar rules.
